Day One Cross Country Canada

So we started our trip cross country on Saturday.

I took a video log/vlog/video blog on day one to share with you guys, as I sat in the Bel-Air Motel in Sault Sainte Marie, Ontario.

Then, on days 2 and 3, shit got REAL.

So, here is day 1. [Better late than never edit, video contains some swears].

You may get a day 3.5 post, but probably not.

Yeah.

  1. Oh StephanieC. I love you (not in a creepy stalker way, but in a, "I could totally be your sister-wife" way, except that is also kind of creepy. Just forget I said anything).

Looks like the Bedbug Inn is some kind of fancy. I keep thinking I should bring my own pillow and sheets when I travel, but I never think of it before I go.

And I once traveled from New Orleans to Colorado with three cats. But unlike a Great Dane, I was able to put the yowlers in the trunk. Don't look at me like that, they were fine.

I am slightly terrified to hear about the rest of your trip.

    1. @Leauxra - I appreciate your non-creepy affection. Bedbug Inn (better known as the Bel-Air Motel) was slept in out of fatigue and desperation. But I still feel icky.

I hear you on the cats. The dogs have been generally quite good, but it's stressful. I just need to suck it up, and bring pillowcases next time.

  2. LOL, I was about to say how amazed I was that you had it so together in the middle of all that shizz, and then the dog barked :D

Thanks for the laugh. If you made it through Day 2 and Day 3, then they couldn't have been that bad, right?

    Right?

    1. @Chris - If you define "made it through" as "cried on the floor of the hotel in Winnipeg, while cradling your blind dog" then YOU BETCHA!

I so don't have it together. When I get red cheeks and/or babble, you know that the inevitable ending will be tearful. That crazy look in my eyes when he barked is how I'm feeling on the INSIDE all the time. Ha.

      :)

Will check out your new blog very soon!

  3. That barking scared the crap right out of me, I LOLed all over the office and blew soda from my nose kinda LOL. Can't wait to hear more about the trip and that's good and bad about finally finding a place that would allow the pets! :))

    1. @Hey Monkey Butt - Oops, sorry, didn't mean to scare you! I was more worried about people hearing his barking and us getting kicked out, hence my crazy-faced panic.

Be careful with that soda! ;)

More to come about the trip...

  4. The Soo. Gawd. What a shithole that place is I got there once at about 4 in the morning after driving from somewhere in the middle of nowhere. At least they let me check out late again. Not that I did. Trust me, the prairies are better than Northern Ontario, but you know that by now.

That days 2 and 3 thing? Excellent foreshadowing.

I am glad I plugged in earphones since I'm at work and share an office.

Oh, and give me a ring when you get to Calgary. Was going to say I'll buy coffee, but you are probably more than ready for booze.

    1. @Keith - I could never see you checking out late, Keith. You'd be up and have fit a good run, breakfast and a shower in before the motel attendee even realized it was morning! :)

Under less dog-inundated circumstances, it would be great to chat over sedatives, I mean... coffee, but these two pups won't allow it now.

We are aiming for Canmore today, fingers crossed!

Sorry about not posting about my swears and the barks. Never thought of it until you mentioned that you watch at work!

  5. oh goodness! you were very composed there until the dog scared the crap out of you (and us)!! LOL the dirty sheets & pillows thing would have me running out to WM or a similar store & purchasing a giant thick quilt to throw over the lot. or sleep in the tub. *shudder* of course, despite Dateline, as long as the sheets look clean, i'll assume they are. : )

    stay safe, stephanie!

    1. @CarrieMarie - Hello!!

I thought my anxiety was poking through a bit, but thanks for thinking I was composed at some point in there. lol.

I never thought of going to the store... we have to stay with the dogs, and we didn't know how they'd react, so we were hesitant to leave. It's hard to know what to do, because there aren't a lot of hotels that will accept Great Danes.

I will try to stay safe, and update everyone soon! :)

  6. You're still as funny and cute as ever!
Glad you didn't lose your humour through all of this : )

  7. You better start projecting some dominant energy, because that dog doesn't know who the pack leader is!

P.S. I knew you had to be Canadian about 2 seconds after you started talking. Ever considered auditioning for South Park?
