Remember when I said I was at the library...?

Yeah... so... I took the puppy (who really isn't a puppy any longer) on a walk today, despite my foot pain and better judgement.

I've been switching them over to new food to help prevent the already-into-the-thousands vet and food bills we had from January and February combined. This new fancy-pants "Blue" sensitive stomach food contains only turkey and potato, so hopefully no bad reactions.

Well, the switchover is resulting in soft just-try-and-clean-me-up poops.

(I know, I know, this blog revolves far too much around dog poop, dog poop consistency, and all things dog poop related).

Anyway, DVDs in hand to return to the library (what, you thought I checked out books at the library?? Good one!), Ella the dog decides to take a huge liqui-poo on the boulevard.

Oh. HAI.

I grab one of my THREE poop bags (you never know, I swear she stores them up for her walks) and try to clean it up. I failed miserably.

I may or may not have gotten poo on my left hand. There may or may not be a touch of dog poo in the top corner of the DVD case that went back to the library. I may or may not have tried to clean it out with a dead husk of something in the grassed area that leads to the library drop boxes. I may or may not have succeeded in getting it all.

You may want to wash your hands a lot if you check something out from the library because you just NEVER know...

Hey, be glad I spared you poop pictures this round!

P.S. If you want to read my product review of Burt's Bees Sensitive Skin Care Cleanser and Daily Moisturizer, it's right here. If you'd rather leave me a comment about dog poo, that's cool, too.

    1. @Carwoo - I know, I went and ruined it. I'm sorry. It was so gross, but I didn't know what else to do in the moment. *sigh*.

Or... I mean... I may or may not be gross.

  3. Poop and boobs. The sure fire topics to inspire readers to visit. I used to not think about shopping carts, till I saw a babies' diaper explode all over the handles of one. Libraries had not occurred to me. Thanks for that. Thank you so very, very much.

Now. Dog food. For years and years we made our own cat food. We had a FUS cat, and had to keep the ash content to a minimum. Chicken livers, rice, hard boiled egg, pinch of salt, sometimes some vitamins or a few other minor ingredients. After a while we got really good at it. The cats loved it, and we knew we were feeding them good stuff. It was cheap. CHEAP, I tell you. So, ask your vet for the recipe and check it out.

    1. @Keith - I'm classy, yo. And I don't have boobs. lol.

For the natural food, as an easily-disgusted vegetarian, there's no way livers or other animal parts will fly with me. The smell of the dog food alone grosses me out. I appreciate the great idea, but it just isn't for me. Plus, when my parents dogsit, there's no way I could put that responsibility on them.

  4. Now I have to add another item to the list of "trace elements" that linger on items other people have handled: germs, cocaine, and dog doo. :P

    1. @Barb - I know, though trace cocaine might make you not care if there is dog doo? Who knows.

  5. If you CAN... add a probiotic into the mix, or just some plain unsweetened yogurt. TMI, I'm sure, but that will help with the 'food shock' and firm up those poo's in no time. :)

If yogurt isn't in the stars, google "Bluelite for dogs." The stuff is amazing, and is a probiotic/electrolyte mix. Think pedialite for pups.

    1. @Brandon - I'm TERRIFIED to add anything different. No dairy for sure or the Dane will barf.

Could I give them human probiotics? I have two bottles sitting in my cabinet collecting dust.

  6. lolz... I think Max does the same thing, saves those up for his walks. Then of course it's grab one of the 3 bags and clean it up. I hate the ones that smear and dont clean up well. Of course Max waits until we're walking down the street to drop those. Then you end up with smears of poo on the sidewalk praying for the rain to come right then. lolz. Love the post

    1. @Hey Monkey Butt - She did it to me again yesterday. THOUGHT I had 3 bags, turns out I only had two, but she pooped 3 times!!! Dammit! And all liqui-poo.

And she waits until we walk with the neighbour. Smart little dogs!

  13. So my 12 year old dog who is about 1/3 the size of your dane even though she's a rottie/pyranees mix use to do this to me all the time. For her, it turned out that she was just SO EXCITED that she had to shit.

We solved it going in the back yard and getting her REALLY EXCITED and playing with her for about 5 minutes before we go for a walk. So she goes BEFORE we leave.

That, or we go in the mountains, and push her poo off to the side with sticks and bury it with pine needles.
